A January hello from leslie

Liz is sleeping, having just finished her three, twelve hour midnight shifts at the hospital (she works on the labor and delivery floor now), and so Markel and I are doing our weekly stint with Michael and Juniper, taking care of them so that Liz can sleep. I am grabbing a little time on the computer while Juniper and Markel play in the other room.
My computer is still not operating. Eva's Tom took it to his guy in New Hampshire and it is indeed fried (we had a spectacular thunderstorm in the Keys last summer and it got zapped right through the surge protector, which I have now learned doesn't always do the job).

It has been awful not having a computer. I grab a few quick minutes when I can, at Liz's.

In any case, I am posting pics that are long overdue, from last fall, Eva and Tom's visit, a visit with Marisa, my god-daughter, and Christmas time.
I hope we can get this blog thing rolling again.....love you all- leslie

leslie and markels new place in Michigan

Here we are, in our (not too) wintry home. It has been as mild here as it has everywhere else in the northeast.
The top photo shows our house and barn, which has been being re-roofed all fall and is still in progress
. It just happens to be the oldest stone structure of it's kind in Ann Arbor, built in 1892.
We haven't really settled into it yet because of the work being done, but this spring, summer and fall it will be great and we will do our best to winterize it before next winter. Markel has had to do a lot of our work outside, a chilly contrast to the wonderful work conditions in Florida.
We know it's right to be here though and we'll get it all worked out. Everything takes longer than you think.
The other shots are the interior and our Christmas tree.
We live two blocks from downtown Ann Arbor, which is a wonderfully charming and thriving little city.

Night Launch of the Shuttle in Florida

This is without a doubt a spectacular sight. The photo does not do it justice. The light on the bottom is the streetlight on my street. The shuttle literally lit up the night sky. Something not to miss if you are ever here in Florida when there's a shuttle launch. Posted by Picasa

The Mercers enjoying Thanksgiving!

Kerri, Fred, Allison and Evan - the Mercers enjoying Thanksgiving! We all ate too much and kept on eating for the next four days: turkey, ham, stringbean casserole, sweet potatoes, stuffing, apple pie (guess who made that one!) and pumpkin pie - Kerri the cook made a fab Pumpkin pie.

Handsome men, beautiful women, darling babies.....we've got it all!

More Michigan Thanksgiving!

Games, cousins, brothers ,sisters, mom's, dad's, nana's, papa's, aunts, and uncles.....great food, wine, song (mom had composed one for each traveling family), swimming at the MAC (the uber spa), movies, 50 degree and sunny weather. It was perfect except for the fact that there were dearly loved people who we were missing.

Michigan Thanksgiving!

Mom and Dad hosted a Thanksgiving slumber party and we had an awesome time.
